About The Department

The Department of Environmental Science was established in 2015. The department has started B.Sc in Environmental Science with a few students which was a great initiative as this is an emerging subject but now this subject is popular enough so the number of students also increasing. The Environmental Science is a multidisciplinary subject and finds immense application area to the society. The major teaching areas are basic and applied ecology, pollution studies, environmental chemistry, bioremediation, landscape ecology, geomorphology, hydrology, remote sensing, resource studies, atmospheric science, environmental biotechnology, environmental management, environmental toxicology etc. The department also has Eco-Club, Sister organization formed on environment day , 5th June, 2022. The main purpose of constructing the Eco club was to monitor several environment related concerns throughout the campus. Every members of the eco club were assigned to take proper steps regarding any environmental related problems in the campus and nearby places. Currently, the department has only three teaching faculties but they are constantly support and guide the students beyond the teaching hours for upliftment of the students. The department will be a common platform for interdisciplinary teaching, research and scientific communication and play a potential role in technology transfer with lab-to-land approach for societal benefits.

Project

This is to state that I, Shree Rajdeep Dutta, Guest lecturer, department of Bengali, have permitted to carry on a Research Project on behalf of Bengali Department under the financial assistance of New Alipore College Research Cell. The title of the project is "Shantiniketaner Sthapatyashilpa"(Architecture Of Shantiniketan) and the project head is Dr Shiti Kumari Kundu, head, dept of Bengali.
 
The project is being carried on successfully.
